PDHPE & PASS

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PDHPE)AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS STUDIES (PASS)

At Outdoor Adventure Camps we provide a range of outdoor education programs to support:

  • PDHPE KLA for Primary School students Years 3-6
  • PDHPE KLA for High School students Years 7-10
  • 2 unit PDHPD elective for HSC Years 11 and 12
  • PASS elective for High School students Years 9 and 10

Learning Outcomes For Primary School Students

Programs for younger students have a strong emphasis on:

  • Development of motor skills
  • Appreciation of the Australian bush and waterways
  • Community and belonging
  • Respect for others and teamwork
  • New experiences

Learning Outcomes For High School Students

For older students our programs are more demanding and involve the following elements:

  • Planning and preparation
  • Co-operative teamwork, contribution and interdependence
  • Self reliance and responsibility
  • Communication
  • Problem solving
  • Challenging and transcending personal limitations and mindsets
  • Personal achievement in new areas
  • Training in a range of campcraft and bushcraft skills

Students undertaking the 2 unit PDHPE elective for the NSW Higher School Certificate will receive additional training in:

  • Safety and safe practice in the Australian bush
  • Basic First Aid (relevant to bush camping)
  • Necessary equipment and how to use it
  • Campsite selection, campcraft and overnight bivouac camping
  • Campsite cooking involving preparation and cooking of food
  • Environmental care
  • Map to ground navigation

Guide Accreditation

Our camp guides and instructors are qualified in outdoor recreation or industry equivalent and have extensive experience in working with school students in a bivouac or residential camp setting. All staff have Working with Children clearance through the NSW Department of Sport & Recreation.
